Police charged man for allegedly defiling neighbour’s 12-year-old daughter. Magistrate P. O. Adetuyibi of Iyaganku Family Court in Ibadan, Ondo State, on Thursday remanded a Togolese, Oloruntobi Kosi, 59, for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s 12-year-old daughter.
The police charged Kosi with defilement, an offence which contravened the provisions of Section 34 of the Oyo State Child Rights Law 2006.
During court proceedings, the prosecution counsel, Inspector Oluwakemi Arowosaye, told the court that the defendant on May 3, around 2am at Agric Agbaruru road, Iwere-Ile, allegedly had unlawful sexual intercourse with the 12-year-old child without her consent.

However, Magistrate Adetuyibi did not take the defendant’s plea due to lack of jurisdiction and ordered that he should be remanded at the Abolongo Correctional facility, Oyo Town pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution.
Adetuyibi further adjourned the matter until August 10, for mention.
